Matthew Feinman is an experienced civil litigator in state and federal court throughout Western Pennsylvania. On the Plaintiff side, he has won six-figure awards for his clients, as well as repossession of property, and collection of debt. As Counsel for his Defendants, he has successfully defended against a variety of cases seeking possession of property or monetary damages, including defending against multi-million dollar suits.
Matt’s areas of focus include breach of an understanding between parties — including real estate disputes and landlord-tenant matters. He also handles business and contract litigation, commercial debt collection, business and real estate investment advising, entertainment law, and he is one of only a handful of property conservatorship attorneys in Western Pennsylvania. Matt has years of experience assisting clients in negotiating debt relief and navigating bankruptcy. He was a Judicial Intern for Judge Jeffery Deller while he served as Chief Bankruptcy Judge for the Bankruptcy Court of the Western District of Pennsylvania. Since entering private practice, Matt has helped numerous clients liquidate their debt and get out from under the weight of their creditors and collection companies.
Matt is also a seasoned arbitrator for the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas, as well as a trained and certified court mediator. Additionally, as a property conservatorship attorney, he has worked on cases, for both prospective conservators and defending homeowners, that have helped shape the future of the law throughout the Commonwealth.
Matt is a Graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. While completing his JD, he was a Co-Executive Editor and Research Editor of the Journal of Technology Law and Policy, a Founder of the Young Professionals in Energy – Pitt Chapter, and a member of the Phi Alpha Delta International Law Fraternity. He has been published in the Pittsburgh Journal of Technology Law and Policy – “Mining the Final Frontier: Keeping Earth’s Asteroid Mining Ventures From Becoming The Next Gold Rush;” was invited to and attended the ABA Forum on Air and Space Law in Washington, DC; had his article republished in the Air Law Institute Commentary; and was given a scholarship and award for his work by the Air Law Institute in San Diego, CA.
Prior to working in law, he earned a Masters Degree in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University in Orlando, FL. During his time in Florida, Matt collaborated on projects with local and visiting film production companies, musicians, and television programs (national and local). Matt now uses his experience in the entertainment industry to enhance his legal expertise to represent local and national artists for legal matters.
When not working, Matt enjoys spending time with his family exploring the vibrant Pittsburgh neighborhoods, traveling, and experiencing local culture wherever he visits. He volunteers his time by serving on the board of several local non-profit organizations, including serving as the Immediate Past-Chair of the SteelTree Fund through the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh, the Interim President of Arts Out Loud, serving on the Advisory Board for Shulayim L’Shalom (a youth group for marginalized teens), a Member of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas Virtual Arbitration Rules Subcommittee, and many more.
